There are 17 different global goals which are for Sustainable Development. If these goals are to be completed by 2030, it would mean an end to extreme poverty, inequality and climate change.
193 world leaders agreed to the 17 global goals to help save our planet.
Global Goal 6 is for everyone to be able to access clean water and sanitation. Some of the goals for 2030 include:
Achieve universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all.
Achieve access to adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene for all and end open defecation, paying special attention to the needs of women and girls and those in vulnerable situations
Support and strengthen the participation of local communities in improving water and sanitation management
By 2020, protect and restore water-related ecosystems, including mountains, forests, wetlands, rivers, aquifers and lakes
Implement integrated water resources management at all levels, including through transboundary cooperation as appropriate
And there are another 3 targets.
